Aaron Ramsdale said that working with Eddie Howe was a “big draw” and credited Newcastle manager to “transform me from a man into a professional footballer” after joining the Magpies for a Southampton season.

“I always liked to play here in St James’ Park,” Ramsdale told Newcastle. “I haven’t always had the best results, but when the fans get behind you, it’s a place.

“Working with the manager and his coach staff was again a big draw. They have already had a great influence on my career and the gaffer transformed me from a man into a professional footballer in Bournemouth.

“He really showed me the ropes so that the manager and his coach staff are a huge sale argument.”

Youth product of Sheffield United, Ramsdale was still present while the Gunners finished second in 2022/23 Premier League and has five caps in England, joining the teams at Euro 2020 and 2024 and at the World Cup of the FIFA 2022 club.

Why did Newcastle sign Aaron Ramsdale?

Howe pursued a goalkeeper all summer, but missed the longtime goal James Trafford, who returned to the former Manchester City club this week for 27 million pounds initially from Burnley.

Newcastle continued the 21 -year -old last summer and again at the end of May, offering 27 million pounds of international sterling in England under 21 before the club World Cup in June.
