SpaceX is preparing for the tenth flight of testing its Megaroter following a sequence of chess that questioned Starship’s ability to fly away for March in 2026.

Starship is planned for takeoff on Sunday August 24, during a launch window which opens at 7:30 p.m. he. SpaceX recently completed surveys on the previous rocket test flight, which took place on May 27 and ended with the vehicle separating during reintegration. It was the third Starship flight of 2025 and the last in a series of failures. For flight 10, SpaceX integrated the equipment and operational changes to its rocket in order to increase its reliability, according to the company.

Sunday’s test flight will try similar mission objectives which are not satisfied in previous flights due to various anomalies. For the fourth consecutive time, SpaceX will try a test of deployment of the payload. For this test, the rocket will deploy 10 Starlink simulators, each of size and weight similar to the new generation of the company. Rather than staying in orbit, these star ties are designed to follow a suborbital trajectory and should burn during reintegration.

During the next test flight, SpaceX will not try to catch the super booster from the rocket to the launch mount. Instead, the booster will head on a trajectory towards an offshore landing point in the Gulf of Mexico to test his landing burn. During the descent, one of the three engines of the booster will stop to test the capacity of a rescue engine to take over. The booster will then use two central engines for the final landing burn, hovering briefly above the ocean before falling into the Gulf of Mexico.

For the upper stadium of starship, SpaceX has removed several tiles from its thermal shield from “vulnerable stress test areas through the vehicle during the start of the school year,” wrote the company. The tiles were removed from vulnerable areas and hot spots that were observed during the sixth starship flight test.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) granted SpaceX the green light for the next Starship flight after concluding the survey on flight 9. The survey traced the incident of the previous flight to the structural problems which led to “a mixture of methane and liquid oxygen and subsequent ignition,” SpaceX wrote in a press release. To avoid similar problems during future flights, SpaceX said it would reduce the booster’s descent angle to reduce aerodynamic forces and prevent another failure.

The company also discussed the explosion which took place on June 18 at the Massey of SpaceX installation near Starbase. The explosion destroyed the starship prototype which was supposed to fly on flight 10. SpaceX traced the anomaly to damage an overloaded composite pressure vessel (COPV), which stores nitrogen in the starship payload bay. “To solve the problem, COPVs on future flights will work at reduced pressure with additional inspections and added evidence before loading the reactive propellants on a vehicle,” wrote the company.

Starship has a difficult race since the start of the year. The seventh flight of the rocket in January ended with the upper stadium of Starship exploding about eight and a half after the launch. The Upper Stade of Starship concluded a similar spell during its eighth test flight in March, when six of its nine Raptor engines died during the Ascension burn. During the last starship test flight in May, the rocket also underwent a series of failures. Although the vehicle reaches its expected speed, a propellant leak led to a loss of control, and it separated during the start of the school year after failing to achieve its mission objectives.

SpaceX said that he had made several modifications to his rocket to avoid another failure during the flight 10 test, hoping that Starship finally breaks his long sequence of defeats.
