Vietnam ordered the evacuation of more than 586,000 people before the arrival of Typhoon Kajiki.

The storm is already packing 166 km / h (103 MPH) winds and is expected to strengthen more before reaching land early on Monday, the meteorological forecasters said.

The people of the central provinces of Thanh Hoa, Quang Tri, Hue and Da Nang received the order to leave their homes. The flights were canceled and the boats said they stayed on the ground.

The storm folded in front of Hainan in China, where the country’s meteorological agency said that up to 320 mm (12.6 inches) of rain were planned.

The BBC weather says that Typhon Kajiki should weaken while it moves inside Vietnam, but still searching the country with 200 km / h winds and expected precipitation from 300 to 400 mm.

Storm waves from 2 to 4 m (6.6 to 13 feet) are also expected.

Authorities told people on the planned path that does not go outside after 2 p.m. GMT on Sunday. The soldiers were deployed to help, they said.

“The situation is extremely dangerous and not safe for vehicles or structures such as tourism or fishing ships and aquaculture farming facilities,” said AFP news agency has cited officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and the Environment.

Vietnam Airlines canceled at least 22 flights to and from the cities center on Sunday and Monday.

The officials fear that the storm will be as devastating as Yagi in September of last year – a deadly typhoon who killed hundreds of people in the region, including 300 in Vietnam alone.
