France says that it will summon the American ambassador to Paris, Charles Kushner, on what he says, they are unacceptable allegations not to attack an increase in anti -Semitism.

Kushner, who is Jewish and whose son is married to the daughter of American president Donald Trump Ivanka, made the comments in an open letter to French President Emmanuel Macron in the Wall Street Journal.

Echoing the criticism of Israel towards France a few days earlier, Kushner said that there had been an explosion of hatred towards the Jews in France since the start of the war in Gaza.

“France firmly refutes these latter allegations” which are “unacceptable,” said a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, adding that Kushner should appear on Monday.

In his letter, the ambassador called Macron to alleviate his criticism of Israel and described examples of anti -Semitism which, according to him, had “a long marked French life”.

“In France, not a day passes without the Jews being attacked in the street, synagogues or degraded schools, or companies belonging to vandalized Jews. Your own domestic ministry has reported anti -Semitic incidents even to preschool schools.”

He also said he was ready to work with Macron and other French leaders to “forge a serious plan” to solve the problem.

The ministry stressed that, since the ambassadors of the 1961 Vienna Convention, have not been authorized to intervene in the domestic affairs of a country.

Kushner’s letter echoes the comments made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who also wrote a letter to Macron last week. He accused the French chief of having contributed to anti -Semitism by calling for the international recognition of a Palestinian state.

France plans to officially recognize Palestine in September.

When Macron made this announcement, he said: “We must build the state of Palestine, ensure his viability and guarantee that by accepting his demilitarization and by fully recognizing Israel, he contributes to the security of all in the Middle East. There is no alternative”.

He previously publicly criticized anti -Semitism as against French values and increased security to protect synagogues and other Jewish centers in response to anti -Semitic incidents linked to the Gaza conflict.

The war was caused by an attack in southern Israel by Hamas on October 7, 2023. He saw around 1,200 people killed and 251 others took hostage.

Jerusalem launched an offensive in response that killed more than 60,000 people in Gaza, according to the Hamas Ministry of Hamas in the territory.

Last week, a famine was confirmed in Gaza City. The integrated classification of the food security phase indicated that more than half a million people faced “catastrophic” conditions characterized by “famine, destitution and death”.

Israel denied that there was famine in the territory and described the report as “lie downright”.
