A woman in New Zealand was arrested after a two-year-old girl was found in her luggage while she was traveling on a bus.
The police said that police had been called to a bus stop in Kaiwaka, a small town in the north of the country on Sunday, after a passenger asked for access to the luggage compartment.
“The driver worried when he noticed that the bag was moving. When the driver opened the suitcase, he discovered the two-year-old girl,” said a New Zealand police.
The woman, 27, was arrested and charged with ill -treatment / negligence of a child.
“The little girl would have been very hot, but otherwise seemed physically unscathed,” said the police.
She was transported to the hospital, where she was undergoing a medical assessment, they added.
The relationship between women and children has not been disclosed.
The woman is expected to appear on Monday before the North Shore District Court.
