The XI of China urges AI cooperation, rejects the “Cold War Mentality” at SCO Summit

Tianjin, China – Chinese President Xi Jinping called for members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization on Monday to strengthen the cooperation of artificial intelligence, while rejecting what he called a “Cold War mentality”.

XI spoke to the largest Summit of the OCS to date, with more than 20 foreign leaders gathered in Tianjin, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Reunion comes as China seeks to launch as a global peacemaker, in a context of persistent trade tensions with the United States, while the war of Russia-Ukraine takes place and the conflict of Israel-Hamas has repercussions in the region.

XI said China has invested $ 84 billion in other OCS countries and would support the participation of 10,000 students in the “Luban” vocational education program in Beijing. He added that the SCO rally has an opportunity to draw a new phase of high quality development and cooperation.

It is not yet known if the SCO summit will open the way to any breakthrough in the softening of tensions. XI should meet Putin this week, the Russian chief should stay in China for a military parade in Beijing to commemorate 80 years since the end of the Second World War.

In the past two days, XI met at least 10 guest leaders – including Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minister of Cambodia Hun Manet – who are in town for the SCO summit.

XI met Modi Modi on Saturday in Tianjin, the two parties claiming the importance of being partners, not rivals, according to official readings.

“A stable relationship and cooperation between India and China and their 2.8 billion peoples on the basis of mutual respect, mutual interest and mutual sensitivity are necessary for the growth and development of the two countries,” the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release according to the meeting.

The summit is expected to publish a joint declaration at the end of the two -day meeting on Monday. The best Chinese diplomat Wang Yi is expected to hold a press conference on Monday evening, local time.
