Rudy Giuliani to receive a presidential medal of freedom, says Trump

The former mayor of New York, Rudy Giuliani, will receive a presidential medal of freedom, the highest civilian honor, announced Donald Trump on Truth Social.
Giuliani became known as “American mayor” after having directed New York until September 11. While working before Trump’s personal lawyer before, the pair has since separated.
The announcement comes two days after Giuliani suffered back injury when a car in which he was a passenger was hit from behind, police said.
The presidential medals of freedom are awarded to people who have made “exceptionally meritorious contributions to prosperity, values or security of the nation, world peace or other public or private efforts”.
In The Truth Social Post where Trump announced the appointment of Giuliani, the president called him “the greatest mayor in New York history, and an equally large American patriot”.
The ancient Honourees include Muhammad Ali, Dr. Jane Goodell, Anna Wintour and Michael J Fox, among others.
In 2017, former President Barack Obama awarded vice-president Joe Biden with the Liberty Medal.
Giuliani has not yet publicly commented on the announcement and we do not know when he will officially receive the medal.
On Saturday evening, a car in which he was a passenger was struck from behind in the American state of New Hampshire.
All the involved in the accident suffered injuries that did not put their life in danger and were transported to the hospital, police said. His security officer said he had suffered injuries as well as lacerations and bruises. Giuliani has since left the hospital, reports.
Giuliani’s response to the terrorist attack on September 11 in New York sparked praise. Time magazine named her his person of the year for 2001, and Queen Elizabeth II presented him with an honorary chivalry.
In 2008, he made an unsuccessful race for the American president and later became one of Trump’s advisers during the latter’s 2016 campaign.
While Giuliani had a historical increase in glory in recent years, it has been disturbed by personal and financial problems.
He joined Trump’s legal team in 2018 and remained part of it to the 2020 elections.
He was one of several Trump allies who spread false allegations of electoral fraud in order to overthrow the loss of Trump against former president Joe Biden in 2020.
Giuliani was prosecuted for defamation and forced to pay two former Georgia electoral employees 148 million dollars (120 million pounds Sterling).
This judgment also forced Giuliani to file for bankruptcy and led him to be stripped of his legal skills securities.
At the beginning of 2021, Giuliani’s legal work with Trump ended, although an advisor said there were allies and friends.
