Amorim says that there is more to come from the New Garçon Mbeumo

Bryan Mbeumo will improve when he understands a better understanding of the new position that is asked to fill in Manchester United, according to the boss Ruben Amorim.

Mbeumo made his debut in United last night during the 2-2 draw with Everton in the Premier League summer series in Atlanta, and impressed with beautiful touches.

The signing of 71 million pounds sterling from Brentford operated in a large position for bees, but last night aligned as one of the two central number 10 behind Matheus Cunha.

Amorim was encouraged by what he saw – in particular the Mbeumo link with the right back Amad Diallo – but thinks that there is more to come.

“He played well,” said Amorim. “He needs to understand the position, the movements, but (his) first touch, the way you connect with a single touch, the opening (ING) a lot of space. You can see that it is not in perfect condition, physically, but it does a lot of shopping and it can stretch a team.”

Captain Bruno Fernandes believes that more quality is necessary after a performance he described as “lazy”.

“We didn’t want to finish this way. Our performance was not the best and we were a little lazy today.
