A British man was accused of attempted murder after pretending to drown his daughter-in-law in a swimming pool in Florida.

Mark Gibbon, 62, was on vacation with his family at Solterra Resort in Davenport, near Walt Disney World Resort, when the disagreement on his grandchildren broke out, said the Sheriff’s Department of Polk.

Mr. Gibbon, of Beaconsfield in the Buckinghashire, is accused of having pushed and held the head of the 33 -year -old woman underwater several times preventing her from breathing.

He is accused of attempted murder in the second degree and two battery leaders.

The Sheriff Grady Judd said in a press release: “It is great that Polk County attracts visitors from around the world, but we expect vacationers to behave while they visit with us, just as we expect our residents for life.

“Because Mr. Gibbon could not control his anger, he can find himself spending much more time in Florida than he had planned.”

The woman told the police that the couple had started to discuss their grandchildren when they were in the swimming pool of the vacation rental house, before they tried to drown it.

A young girl then jumped into the swimming pool to try to stop Mr. Gibbon driving the woman, said the sheriff’s office.

Mr. Gibbon is accused of only stopping when two sisters who were on vacation said that they had called the Sheriff’s office.

He was arrested and taken to Polk County prison, the sheriff’s office said.
