Algiers pushes back after Macron urges a more difficult position

Relations between France and Algeria have reached a new hollow, following a letter written by Emmanuel Macron to his Prime Minister. In this document, he asked François Bayrou to take a more difficult position towards the old colony of France, because a dispute drags more than two French nationals imprisoned in Algeria and exemptions from visa for Algerian diplomats. Algiers replied by accusing Paris of trying to “exonerate” from all blame.
