Amorim supports Bayindir to bounce despite an error in the loss of arsenal

Manchester United boss, Ruben Amorim, rejected the suggestions that he needs to strengthen his goalkeeper options, despite Altay Bayindir’s expensive error during the 1-0 defeat against Arsenal the opening weekend of the Premier League.
Bayindir, preferred to Andre Onana in Old Trafford, failed to deal with a corner of Declan Rice who allowed Riccardo Calafiori to go for the sole purpose of the match.
Onana, who had missed the pre-season with a problem with the hamstrings, returned to a complete training last week but was not included in the team.
Amorim, however, was held near his goalkeeper when he was questioned after the match.
“I am satisfied with the three goalkeepers,” said Amorim. “He (Bayindir) chooses to get the ball, but he is pushed. It’s my feeling when I see the game.
“You choose to push a player (away) or make the ball at that time. He must use his hands to catch the ball, not push the players. He chooses to push the players and let the ball pass.”
The decision to start Bayindir was a surprise, all the more so since Murim had confirmed on Friday thanana was able to appear. But he insisted that Cameroonian was not “abandoned”.
“I did not drop onana from the team,” said Amorim. “This is not the case to drop Ornana. This does not put Andre Onana in a week without seeing the game, without time, with training.
“Tom (Heaton) and Bayindir, during the pre-season, they did a good job.”
Despite the narrow defeat, United created several good opportunities and was undoubtedly the strongest side for long periods. Patrick Dorgu struck the post in the first half, while Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo forced the stops of the Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya.
“It is this feeling that we have played better,” said Amorim. “We were the best team, but in the end, we lost the match. I am really proud of the work they put on the field and it is important to move forward.
“We have proven today that we can win any first League match, especially against a large team like Arsenal, and we were the best team.”
The match also highlighted potential changes in United’s attack options. Rasmus Hojlund, left entirely from the team, faces an increasing uncertainty about his future.
Reports in Italy linked the striker, who joined United in 2023, with a move to Milan. Their sports director told Mediaet: “Hojlund is a good option for us. We think of him, but on the transfer market, you never know what could happen.”
Meanwhile, the new arrival Benjamin Sesko was presented from the bench against the Gunners after being unveiled at the crowd of Trafford in advance. Amorim suggested that the pair was in direct competition.
“It’s a fight for places,” said Amorim. “We will see what will happen on the market. There are different characteristics. Rasmus has the same characteristics of Benjamin Sesko, so we have to choose. ”
