Anti-immigrant demonstrators and counter-demonstrators clash through the United Kingdom

Protests against the use of hotels to shelter asylum seekers took place through the United Kingdom, with demonstrators gathering in cities such as Bristol, Liverpool and London, as well as in MLUD, Perth and County Antrim. In many areas, the police intervened to separate rival groups while anti-racism activists have organized counter-demostities. The troubles follow a high court decision earlier this week which blocked the plans of use of a hotel in Epping, Essex, for asylum accommodation, which prompted several local authorities in England to consider launching their own legal challenges. The former British Minister of European Affairs, Denis Macshane, speaks to France24 for other explanations.
