At least two people were killed and 11 injured in a new Russian drone attack overnight against the Ukrainian capital kyiv, local officials said.

One of the victims was a one -year -old baby, whose body was removed from the rubble, said the head of the kyiv military administration on Sunday, Tymur Tkachenko. A young woman would also have been killed.

Russian strikes also aimed at Kryvyi Rih, the hometown of President Volodymyr Zelensky in the center of Ukraine, where three infrastructure facilities were affected. Air raid warnings were activated overnight for all regions of the country.

The new attack came while Russian President Vladimir Putin hardened his warning on the West not to help Ukraine.

Overnight, several several floors residential buildings were partially destroyed and continued to be on fire after direct strokes.

“The Russians deliberately strike civil installations,” said Tkachenko, urging kyiv residents to stay in shelters.

City authorities have said that residential buildings had been affected in Western and southeast Dvyatoshynkyi districts of Darnytskyi.

There were several explosions in kyiv early in the morning, including at least one in the city center, seen by the BBC. Several cruise missiles have also targeted the capital.

The army of Russia did not comment on the drone strikes reported.

Earlier this week, Putin rejected Western proposals for a “comfort force” in Ukraine the day after the establishment of a ceasefire, following a Paris summit aimed at finalizing security guarantees.

French President Emmanuel Macron said that 26 of Ukraine allies were officially committed to deploying troops “on land, sea or air” to help ensure security when the fighting was arrested. He gave no other details.

Putin sought to cancel the initiative of the Allies, warning that all the troops deployed in Ukraine would be “legitimate targets”.

Russia launched a large -scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, and Moscow currently controls around 20% of the Ukrainian territory – including the South Crimea peninsula annexed in 2014.
