Cricket control advice in India (BCCI) finally responded to growing criticism from cricket fans during the total absence of live coverage for the DULEEP 2025 trophy quarter -finals. After days of indignation of social media targeting the richest cricket council in the world for not having broadcast one of the first national tournaments in India, the secretary of the BCCI Devajit Saikia announced that the final match will be broadcast live from September 11 to 15. The controversy broke out when fans discovered that despite presenting Indian cricket players like Mohammed Shami, Kuldeep YadavAnd Arshdeep SinghThe quarter -final matches from August 28 at the Bengaluru Center of Excellence received no television or digital coverage.

In response to the assembly pressure, the BCCI secretary, Saikia, tried to clarify the position of the council, declaring: “There will be a live television of the Duleep Trophy final. We have an agreement with our broadcaster to ensure a live television of 100 days of domestic cricket, which means that all our national tournaments are covered live“However, this explanation did not do much to satisfy the fans, who wonder why the only final receives coverage while the semi-finals and the quarter-finals remain blackened.

BCCI’s current broadcast partner, Viacom18, obtained rights to Indian cricket thanks to an agreement of five years worth 5,963 crosses from September 2023 to March 2028. As part of this agreement, Viacom18 holds television and digital rights for all digital BCCI matches, with sports18, dealing with television and Jiocinema. Despite this complete agreement covering “100 days of domestic cricket”, sources suggest that the broadcaster’s contract only authorizes a fixed number of television days, requiring careful management of matches receives coverage.
