Tuesday evening’s action in the Champions League saw convincing victories for Bayern Munich, Marseille and Atletico Madrid, while Inter and Atalanta have also won significant victories.

Harry Kane, fresh to become the fastest player to reach 100 goals for any club in the first five leagues in Europe, put a double while Bayern lacked 5-1 winners against the Pafos Cypriot champions.

Kane opened the scoring after a quarter of an hour before Raphael Guerreiro and Nicolas Jackson extend the advance of the German club.

The sniper from England then doubled his count 10 minutes before the break, but Pafos gave the house fans something to encourage before the break when Mislav Orsic found the net.

But there should not be a return of shock from the hosts after restarting, with Michael Olise adding a fifth for the Bundesliga champions to lift them at the top of the Champions League table.

Kane has now scored 24 goals in 27 appearances in the Champions League for Bayern, two more than he scored in 32 games for the former Tottenham Hotspur club in the competition.

After hitting their city rivals for five last weekend, Atletico Madrid was again among the goals of the Metropolitano while they were beating Eintracht Frankfurt.

Giacomo Raspadori opened the scoring for hosts after four minutes, Robin Le Normand and Antion Griezmann also finding the net before half-time.

Jonathan Burkardt removed one for visitors, but it turned out to be a little more than consolation while Giuliano Simeone and a Julian Alvarez penalty added an already convincing exposure.

Marseille was also clinical in their confrontation with Ajax. Igor Peaceao scored twice in the first 12 minutes to place the Ligue 1 club on the way to a resounding 4-0 victory.

Former Premier League Mason Greenwood and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang players won the other goals while Zerbi’s Roberto team bounced after a narrow defeat against Real Madrid on the day of the door.

Elsewhere, the finalists beaten last season emerged as comfortable winners in their match with Slavia Praha in San Siro.

Lautaro Martinez scored each side with a goal from Denzel Dumfries while the Giants of Serie A won a 3-0 victory on home.

Meanwhile, another high -flying Italian outfit, Atalanta, left her late to come to beat the Brugge club at home.

Christos Tzolis placed visitors to the Gewiss stadium but, with 15 minutes to play, the tie was returned to the head while a penalty of Lazar Samardzic and a head of Mario Pasalic gave the Bergamo Club a 2-1 victory.
