Before Colin Farrell became the penguin of Matt Reeves’ BatmanThe character had almost a story of different origin in the DC universe. According to the star and producer Margot Robbie, the first versions of the script for her Harley Quinn vehicle Birds of prey, presented Batman’s emblematic villain as the main antagonist, but someone intervened and asked that it does not happen.

“Matt Reeves said,” Do not use Le Penguin. I’m going to use it in my “” thing, Robbie told Farrell in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “And so we exchanged it on Black Mask.”

Reeves, of course, is the writer and director of Batmanwhich was released two years after Birds of prey. His film presents Penguin in a fairly important role, which has since become even more important thanks to the award -winning Spinoff. So, if Reeves had not asked that the character came out of Birds of preyThe whole scope of the DC universe and the prospects for Warner Bros. Discovery would look very different. In addition, so we had Ewan McGregor in a DC film as a black mask. One thing that has really happened.

What is almost the most fun in this piece of Trivia, however, is that Farrell has no idea. During this EW interview for their new film, A big daring journey, Robbie said that she and Farrell had never discussed their respective DC roles before revealing that Penguin was in the first drafts of the writer Christina Hodson of Pré birdsy. Farrell was shocked by this and asked Robbie to send him this version of the script if she had it. We don’t know if it has happened since, but it’s fun nevertheless. Farrell also questioned Robbie about the iteration of the character by Hodson, and she called him “incredible”. Probably not 24 “incredible” Emmy nominations, but still.

We will then see Farrell’s penguin The Batman II part, Presented at the release in October 2027. As for what Robbie May, or not, becomes Harley Quinn again, it depends on the president of the DC studios, James Gunn. And he doesn’t talk about it.
