Liverpool vs Lille match preview

Liverpool’s good season continues with a return to Europe where Arne Slot’s side have a record six wins from six Champions League games.

The Reds have been assured of a chance to play in the new league and are top of the table with two matches to spare.

Lille have also impressed, winning four of their six games to stay in eighth place – but only two French teams have won at Anfield in the top flight.

Slot say they are not focused on finishing top of the table as no one knows if that will lead to an easy knock-out game at this point.

He said: “The most important thing is that when we go there we want to win games.”

“With this new setup, you think that finishing number one is the best place to finish, but because it’s a strange league table, because every week, even if you face a relegated team, it’s the most difficult team to face. If you finish number one you can face them.

“I am not thinking about the league in the way that if you finish number one you will find an easy team because being at the top does not mean that you are a good team. It is impossible to tell because of the strange appearance we have.”
