Cole Palmer is doubtful for Monday’s game

Chelsea could be without Cole Palmer when they host Wolves in the Premier League on Monday night.

Palmer has scored 14 goals in the Premier League this season – along with four assists – and has been key to the club’s form under Enzo Maresca.

The coach said: “Cole did not train and we have three or four players who are doubtful for Monday’s game because in the last game they had problems.

“Cole, in the first half (of the last game) they pushed him not to play today, we don’t know if he will play tomorrow.

“We rely on Cole because he is a great player. We like to play with Cole but if he is injured or has a problem we will find a solution.”

The player who could be there to return is defender Trevoh Chalabah.

Chalabah was brought back from his loan spell at Crystal Palace this week and Maresca said it was an easy decision to bring him back to Stamford Bridge.

“It was a simple process saying that we have few injuries and we were looking for a solution,” said Maresca. “The best solution was to call Trev again because we know him and we know he can help us.

“He knows the house better than I do – he was born here! He is very happy. I talked to him a few days ago and this morning. He is very happy to be here.

“The reason he left was because of these kinds of problems, finances and things like that, not just a technical idea.”

Chelsea enter the weekend in fifth place in the Premier League. They are winless in five Premier League games (D3 L2), having won five in a row before this.
