C charitable meals with Warren Buffett and other famous American investors are well known. Singapore is now joining the trend with a recent auction for a dinner with one of its most eminent bankers, highlighting the city’s growing appetite for luxury experiences.

The winning tenderer paid $ 18,900 S ($ 14,790) for the possibility of dinner with Tan Su Shan, director general of DBS Group Holdings Ltd., during an auction led by last week of Sotheby’s. The event, which is part of the auction of the National Gallery Singapore in 2025, is a rare example of a fundraising in Asia featuring a leading business manager.

In addition to the meal of six people, the retained tenderer will also join Tan and her husband during a private visit to The National Gallery, a museum of art hosted in two national monuments. Sotheby’s promotion equipment on his website has described dinner like the one who “promises a stimulating conversation and an exceptional business”, ideal for someone “looking for inspiration, connection and a seat at the table with one of the most estimated figures in Singapore”.

The winning offer – more than double the pre -sale estimate of $ 6,000 at $ 8,000 – obliges the way in which experiences are more and more appreciated alongside traditional art and collectibles on the luxury market in Singapore. The nation is a key financial center in Asia, where wealth management is an important growth engine.

Tan, 58, a former private banker, became the first woman to run the largest banking in Singapore in March, succeeding Piyush Gupta after her 15 -year term. Previously, she held management positions at Morgan Stanley and Citigroup Inc. before joining DBS in 2010, where she accumulated roles in wealth management, institutional banking and other companies. DBS crossed a market value of $ 100 billion in June – the first listed company of the city -state to reach the course.

According to a spokesperson. “We are continuously looking to offer our donors rare and exceptional experiences that inspire generous donations,” added the spokesperson.

Nearly 90 rare works of art and luxury experiences were sold at auction during the sumptuous evening ceremony which was one of the 10th anniversary celebrations of the gallery.

DBS has been a founding partner of the gallery since 2014, and Tan’s participation in charitable auction is an extension of its “long-standing support,” said a spokesperson for the bank in response to a Bloomberg News question. A spokesperson for Sotheby’s confirmed the final price but refused to provide other details, such as the identity of the winning tenderer.
