Paris Saint-Germain won its second consecutive 1-0 victory to start the new Ligue 1 season after going beyond the Angers.

It was the first appearance of PSG at the Parc des Princes since they won their crown of the Maiden Champions League, but they failed to mark the occasion with a sparkling performance, despite Luis Enrique remembering most of his big guns.

The tastes of Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue and Achraf Hakimi began last weekend victory in Nantes on the bench but returned to a familiar range.

Unusually sloppy PSG

PSG had trouble finding their usual mastery, although they were not helped by Dembele missing a 27th minute penalty. Marius Courcle was tried for defeating João Neves inside the region, but Dembele – the favorite to land the Ballon d’Or – struck his kick over the bar.

The local team continued to dominate and only a bad finish of Doue, Hakimi, Vittinha and Dembele kept the empty scoring at the break.

The breakthrough occurred four minutes from the second half with Fabian Ruiz shooting inside the interior of the box after the defense of the Angers failed to erase their lines.

Nuno Mendes came almost a second with 11 minutes to do, but was refused by goalkeeper Angers Herve Koffi.

After the match, the Parisians had the chance to show part of the silverware claimed last season when she also gave fans of the house the chance to show their appreciation for goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who seems likely to leave the club before the closure of the transfer window.
