Despite lamentable sales, Tesla thinks you will pay more for a cybertruck

The Tesla cybertruck is largely considered a “unmountained” commercial disaster, but that did not prevent the company from deploying a variety of sales gadgets to try to withdraw a little more money from the flop vehicle.
This week, Tesla has launched a new version of its most expensive Cybertruck variants, known as “Cyberbeast”. Tesla marketed the “beast” as its heaviest and most powerful variant and promoted it originally with a video of the truck towing a Porsche while racing a Porsche – and winning. The company was then accused of fueling the race.
When the “beast” was announced for the first time in November 2023, it cost $ 99,990, $ 10,000 more than the previously announced interim model of Tesla. The company has now increased the price of the beast by $ 15,000, but has added some new features to justify the substantial increase. What do you get for this piece of change?
Reuters reports that the latest version of the cyberbeast includes something called the “luxury package”. This package includes a certain number of advantages, including a complete supervised autonomy, as well as four years of “premium service”, which includes the protection of tires and windshields and other services. You also apparently get a free load to the Tesla network of 70,000 overeating stations. The car now costs $ 114,990, indicates the point of sale.

It seems likely that the demography most likely to buy a cybertruck already has so much money that they don’t really know what to do with it. After all, which would drop six digits on a car that looks like a armored dumpster? Perhaps Tesla presumes that her target audience has so much money and so little sense that additional $ 15,000 is not really important to them, so why not try to take off customers for a little more?
Since its launch, the Cybertruck has obviously had trouble finding its base. According to reports, Tesla originally provided for a production capacity of 250,000 trucks per year, but sold less than 40,000 units in 2024, according to COX Automotive estimates. Since then, the model has drink with anemic sales and would have sold about 7,100 during the first quarter of this year. The car was called a “flop”, a “failure” and “the most stupid vehicle ever designed”, among others.
