There is also evidence that eating a healthy breakfast helps improve brain function, especially memory and concentration, a health expert at the University of California said.
Now, new research has shown that oatmeal can promote longevity.
Fox News Digital spoke to two health experts about the allegations.

Included in the experimental group of a recent study by the American Journal of Lifestyle Medicine was a 105-year-old woman. “Oatmeal contains beta-glucans, which is a type of soluble fiber that dissolves in water and turns into a thick gel-like substance in your gut,” he said.
“This will help slow down your digestion, increase the growth of bacteria in the gut and help reduce the blood sugar response and insulin response time.”
4. Oatmeal is high in salt
You can start your day feeling like a nutritionist.
“Oatmeal is nutrient-dense, full of vitamins and minerals like iron, zinc, phosphorus, magnesium, copper, folate and B vitamins, just to name a few,” Kingry said.
Difficult to understand
Although oatmeal is a beneficial breakfast food that has good health benefits, too much of it has several problems, experts said.

1. Oatmeal is considered a multi-nutrient food

“You can do this by adding nuts, protein powder (make sure you add extra water or it will turn grainy) or nut butter in oatmeal or just add lean breakfast meat on the side.”
If a person has diabetes or insulin resistance, oatmeal may not be the best option because of the high carbohydrate content, Kingry said.

“They can benefit most from a protein-rich meal in the morning and have a ½ cup of oatmeal on the side if they want,” she said.
2. Too much oatmeal can be difficult
Buying oatmeal at the grocery store can be difficult, Kingry said.
Beware of those options with “added sugar or other sugars,” he said. “We always advise you to buy plain oats to reduce sugar.”

Another thing to be aware of, Kingry said, is that while oats are naturally gluten-free, some oats can become contaminated during processing or handling.
Instead, people “looking for gluten-free options should pay attention to labels on gluten-free labels.”

Kingry recommends sticking to the serving size (one package or ½ cup raw) specified on the label of purchased oatmeal.
“It’s very easy to drink too much,” he warned.
