Eero wants to sell customers a backup dongle on the internet cellular for its routers

The Amazon Eero enters the Cellular Hotspot router sector … in a way. At IFA 2025, the company announced the EERO signal, a device that can save your EERO network with cellular data, by kicking when it detects an internet failure.
The EERO signal is a small vertical device with a USB-C separator that connects to the USB-C port of your existing EERO router, feeding the two devices. If you pay an annual subscription of $ 99.99 to Eero Plus, you will get 10 GB of cell backup data per year. Eero will also deploy a plan of $ 199.99 / year “Eero Plus 100” which, you guessed it, gives you 100 GB of data to use. Eero’s spokesperson Connor Rice said the signal will work with any USB-C Eero router that supports Wi-Fi 6 or more.
Eero Plus subscribers already have access to an integrated backup functionality – called, UH, Internet Eero backup – which can automatically switch your network to a nearby hotspot or another Wi -Fi network. But if you prefer not to pay separately for data on mobile hotspot of another company and that you are not only another Wi -Fi network, you can buy a 4G LTE $ 99.99 early next year. Eero says that later in 2026, he will publish another which uses 5G Redcap, a more recent cell protocol intended to provide low latency and low bandwidth service, mainly for things like IoT and portable devices. The 5G model will cost you $ 199.99, according to Rice.

Eero “works with several main cellular operators to allow backup data in the event of internet failure”, according to Rice. He said that debit customers can expect the use of signal cells will amount to 150 Mbps, while the RedCAP 5G version will increase up to 220 Mbps. He added that these are “theoretical maximums” and that the actual speed will depend on several factors, such as the proximity of users to cell towers and which cell spectrum is available.
The company has also announced the Eero Poe 7, an ethernet Wi-Fi 7 band router that works with its existing mesh systems and can obtain both power and data from a single Ethernet cable. This will not be available for the general public – instead, it is intended for “residential companies and properties that use wired infrastructure and have high -band needs.” The Poe 7 has specifications similar to the Eero Max 7, the company promising a wireless flow up to 3.9 Gbit / s and wired up to 9.4 Gbit / s. Each device will have two 10gbe ports and can cover up to 2,000 square feet, according to Eero. The POE 7 will be available in the United States and Canada in November for $ 499.99, to “select Internet service providers and professional installers”.
