Exclusive: Supabase increases $ 100 million to an evaluation of $ 5 billion as the mood coding is soaring

The coding movement of the atmosphere, as Paul Copplesone, started last December – and we are already some eras.
“So Wave One of Vibe Coding was like” you will never need more software “, said Copplesone, CEO and co-founder of Supabase, a platform for the development of open source application. “The two wave is:” Oh, you will never need to write a code again.
Copplestone is in a unique position to monitor the atmosphere coding movement. His company, which provides a backend infrastructure for AI and non-Code platforms like Bolt and Lovable, has brought its one million developers in the past year. “AI manufacturers”, as Copplesone calls them, tend to represent around 30% of their inscriptions. Supabase is built on Postgres, the database system of popular developers rivaling Google Firebase and is a bet on an open-source future.
In April, the quarter sheet announced that Supabase had raised $ 200 million in an accelerated series, evaluating the company at $ 2 billion. Now, about five months later, Supabase has raised an E series of $ 100 million to an evaluation of $ 5 billion. Accel and Peak XV led the Tour, Figma Ventures joining the Tour with other existing investors. (Supabase has refused to disclose the current income figures.) Supabase – which has now raised $ 500 million since its foundation in 2020 – also included the opportunity for the community of the co -investing startup in the Tour as part of a “construction and regulatory mentality”, said Copplesone.
There is only one new institutional investor in this Tour – the Figma. Copplestone is an admirer of the CEO of Figma, Dylan Field, and the very online user community of the Company (and Supabase helps to underlie the AI Figma Make design tool). Otherwise, Supabase limited the E series of the company to the initiates, despite the interests of external investors.
“The future of Supabase, I hope, is the result of $ 50 billion $ 100 billion,” said Copplesone Fortune. “Will this additional investor go there when you wouldn’t have otherwise?”
Copplestone is an optimist on one of the most existential questions concerning room coding: as it is easier for anyone to code, what will happen to coding and developer work?
“The developers today coded a lot, and I think they will probably code much less in the future,” said Copplesone, who thinks that we are still very far from a day when no one will need to code at all. “But people will always be interested in the code, and there will be no shortage of people who want to build things. As things become easier, more people will really want to build things. So, for us, it’s a big back wind.”
Icymi … Paul was on the term leaf podcast last week, explaining how he built culture in a world and distant startup. We are also talking about New Zealand, why he hires other founders, and more on the atmosphere coding work of work. Listen and look here.
