Eyewitnesses have described the moment a ski lift failed in the Spanish Pyrenees, leaving at least 17 people seriously injured.

A young man said that people were “flying and pirouetting”, when “the whole chair suddenly started to hit”.

Ambulances and helicopters took the injured to hospital.

The reason for the failure to raise the seat is unknown.
