Former collaborator of an extremely right German politician imprisoned for espionage for China

A collaborator who worked for a leading member of the far -right AFD part of Germany received a prison sentence of four years and nine months for espionage for China.

Jian Guo had worked in Brussels for Maximilian Krah, a member of the European Parliament for five years until last year. Krah is now a member of the German Parliament.

The Dresden court in eastern Germany had heard how the former KRAH assistant collected information and transmitted confidential documents to the Chinese authorities between 2019 and 2024.

Jian Guo had maintained his innocence, insisting that he had not worked for Chinese intelligence, and Krah said in court last month that he had only learned allegations against his ex-media employee.
