Ghislaine Maxwell, the condemned partner of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, was transferred from a Florida prison to a minimum security establishment in Texas, the authorities confirmed.

This decision comes as Maxwell, who is serving a 20 -year sentence for sexual traffic, pressed the Supreme Court to cancel his conviction while asking President Donald Trump.

Earlier in July, Maxwell held two meetings with the American US sub-procurer, whose details were not made public.

Maxwell was at the center of the controversy surrounding the Trump administration of Epstein files, and the reasons for his transfer from Florida prison are not clear.

While speculation was widespread that Trump could forgive Maxwell, the White House previously said “no mercy is given or discussed”.

The BBC contacted the White House to comment on Maxwell’s move to Texas.

“We can confirm that Ghislaine Maxwell is in the custody of the Federal Office of Prisons of the Federal Prisoner Camp (FPC) Bryan in Bryan, Texas,” the BOP said in a statement.

Maxwell’s lawyer David Oscar Markus confirmed the transfer but refused comments.

In a press release, the late Virginia Giuffre family – one of Jeffrey Epstein’s victims – expressed their “horror and disgust” to what they described as the “preferential treatment” given to Ghislaine Maxwell.

They also condemned this decision as having been made “without any notification to the victims of Maxwell”.

“This is the judicial system that fails the victims before our eyes,” said the press release. “The American public should be indignant by the special treatment granted to a pedophile and a sex offender to a criminal child.”

The installation, FPC Bryant, is located approximately 100 miles (160 km) from the capital of Texas d’Austin.

Like other federal prison camps, FPC Bryant detainees are hosted in dormitories, with a low personal / comrade ratio compared to other safer federal prisons. It houses prisoners serving time for non -violent crimes and white collar crimes.

Elizabeth Holmes, who was found guilty of fraud investors in his 11-year-old start-up, CEO of Theranos, CEO of Theranos, was also hosted among the approximately 650 prisoners of the establishment.

In comparison, the installation where Maxwell was hosted in Florida, FCI Tallahassee, is home to more than 800 detainees, men and women.

Although the discipline is strict in the establishment and all prisoners should operate, they also have access to foreign languages and trade courses, can play sports, watch television and assist religious services.

Contact with family members is authorized for video calls, and prisoners are authorized visitors on weekends and holidays, according to a prison manual published by online authorities.

Less than a week ago, Maxwell’s legal team said she was willing to testify before the congress on what she knows about the case, but only if she obtained strict legal protections.

Earlier in July, she held two meetings with the US sub-procurer Todd Blanche, who said he was planning to see if she could provide additional information on other people who could have been helped by Epstein to sexually abuse girls.

After the meetings, he said that he would reveal what he had learned at an “appropriate moment”. Maxwell’s lawyer said she hadn’t made anything promise or asked for anything in exchange.

Pressure increased on President Trump to publish more files related to the Epstein case, after promising it on the campaign campaign several times last year.

Trump has rather accused political rivals of using the case to distract his achievements since his return to functions.
