Gilbert Arenas criticized people for holding LeBron James a different level than Michael Jordan as a 40-year-old player. The former star of the Washington Wizards, who played with six times NBA hero and met the star of the LA Lakers as an opponent, he expressed his displeasure with people trying to put expectations on James.
A video of his Gil’s Arena show shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday shows Arenas arguing with teammate Rashad McCants and calling out two fans who have James and Jordan.
“No one gave Michael Jordan – they didn’t expect anything from him, they were very happy to see a 40-year-old kid go there with almost 20 (points per game). Why (a) he’s trying so hard to try to knock LeBron for just playing at 40. We think he’s old 20. We think he’s 22 or 23. He’s expected to win 40. He’s older than Shams (Charania)! Arenas said.

On the other hand, McCants said that considering his resume and the license he plays for, LeBron James is expected to provide competition regardless of his age. He also brought Kobe Bryant into the conversation.
“You came here when my guy was still alive and said, ‘Hey, are you sure you’re up for the challenge? Expect to win every year.’ “So if you don’t, how are we seeing you?” McCants asked curiously.
After winning their latest NBA championship in 2020, a LA Lakers they will try to get back to the top of the league without winning. They sit sixth in the Western Conference standings (20-16), but there is no indication that they can make a deep playoff run this year.
LeBron James is still showing that he still has it with both hands
LeBron James is not your typical 40-year-old athlete or guy. The four-time NBA champion sent a stir Tuesday on social media with a big play against the Dallas Mavericks. After Rui Hachimura missed a 3-pointer, James received a pass from Max Christie, hit the rim and jumped the ball over Dereck Lively III.
Although the Lakers were dominated by the Mavs 118-97, James looked in one of the biggest moments of the night. He finished the game with 18 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists in 35 minutes. LeBron James and the Lakers are back on the court on Thursday against the Charlotte Hornets at Crypto.com Arena.
