Governor Phil Murphy has signed a bill which prohibits the betting model of the competition in the state of New Jersey.
It was promulgated on August 15, with the bill – appointed A -5447, after being presented for the first time in March this year. In June, the case was on a committee and was finally adopted in August.
It aims to prevent drawing of style drawing in the New Jersey by establishing new legal definitions and application mechanisms. Within the framework of the new law, sanctions for game operators and illegal practices have included and it will belong to the Consumer Affairs Division and the Division of the Application of Games to apply these established sanctions.
It was designed to fill legal gaps and provide more robust consumer protections.
The ban on the New Jersey competition includes potential fines of up to $ 250,000
According to the bill, which is now the law, the “competition” has been defined as a promotional event where participants can win prizes. From now on, any competition where people have to pay or provide something of value to enter would be considered an illegal game. The potential civil penalties of this are $ 250,000 for recurrences.

The NJ A5447 also includes the expansion of the definitions of the game activities and increases potential criminal sanctions for various games related to the game.
This last decision marks another state which approved a ban on the competition, others like Connecticut, Montana, Nevada and New York having already voted to prohibit this model of Paris. Some other states have also discussed potential legislation, notably Maryland, Florida and Arkansas, although certain discussions have died.
