Harry tea with Charles could be “small” step towards reconciliation

On Wednesday, Prince Harry met his father King Charles in Clarence House in London for their first meeting face to face since February 2024.

The clues have been dispersed everywhere in the past few months.

In his BBC interview in May, there was a change in tone separate from the prince.

After the years of raw emotional media, the Netflix documentary series, the burning criticism of the royal family in its replacement of memories, it was another Prince Harry in front of the cameras.

“I would love a reconciliation with my family,” he said. “There is no point in continuing to fight. Life is precious.”

Prince Harry had clarified his position. He wanted to see his father but did the king feel the same?

One photograph by post on Sunday in July showed that the media communications team representing the meeting of Prince Harry in London with the King’s communications director. Two rival camps meet and the image that finds its way on the first page of a national newspaper.

The two parties denied the flight of the photo, but what she did was that there was a dialogue. A communication channel between the two camps had opened its doors.

And there has been a unified silence on both sides in recent days which has also been revealed.

None of the parties would be drawn on a date or an hour of reunion.

We made informed assumptions on the moment when the father and the son could meet according to the gaps in their newspaper and who planned to be where geographically.

In a family that has been riddled with mistrust and resentment, the two camps remained very tight to the possibility of a meeting.

Their mutual silence held.

Prince Harry is in the United Kingdom this week for charitable events, but has qualified the American house since 2020.

He has not seen King Charles in person since February 2024. The last time they were together, it was shortly after the diagnosis of king’s cancer when Prince Harry came to the United Kingdom for a brief meeting.

When the reunion finally took place on Wednesday afternoon, the Buckingham Palace and Prince Harry’s team were lined up thereafter in terms of the media stress that there would be no comments or advice on the details of the conversations at the meeting.

The palace later confirmed that the king had private tea with his son who lasted about 50 minutes, during a visit to the royal residence.

Everything just felt like something had moved slightly.

If Prince Harry had left the United Kingdom without seeing his father, it was difficult to see how this relationship would be rebuilt.

It would have been harmful to both parties.

What is happening then is more uncertain. We are in the process of any family reconciliation.

There was no sign that Prince Harry met Prince William during this week, the brothers carrying out separate arrangements.

Prince Harry leaves the United Kingdom today. We don’t know when he is back.

He leaves after sitting in a room with his father on a cup of tea for the first time in more than a year and a half.

Making peace can be a long and jumper route. These are small but significant steps.
