Harvey Elliott responds to Liverpool exit rumours

Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott insists he wants to stay and fight for his place in the club amid doubts over a move away.

The 21-year-old did not start a Premier League game since May and missed two months of the current campaign with a broken foot.

The ex-Fulham player became a big hit at Liverpool towards the end of Jurgen Klopp’s tenure but was unable to build on the good form he enjoyed under Arne Slott.

Brighton & Hove Albion and Borussia Dortmund Both have been linked with Elliott, who could offer a loan move away from Anfield, but the player remains committed to the Premier League leaders and instead wants to force Slot’s decision.

Liverpool it’s my club, Liverpool is my team. I want to fight for my place, fight for my position in the team,” Elliott was quoted as saying The Athletic. “I will do what is needed and help the team if possible. It is up to me to try, hard, desire, to achieve this. I will not give up. I am going to keep fighting and who knows what will happen.

“I just have a friendly chat: ‘Is there anything I need to show you to get more game time?’ Is there anything I need to fix?’ We’ve had that conversation,” Elliott continued, revealing that he spoke with Slot about what needs to change.

“It’s not just me, it’s other guys who maybe didn’t play the way they wanted to maybe doing the same thing. I have to look down and wait for my chance.

“I was out with an injury at the beginning of the season. I’m not looking forward to coming back and playing right away. I want to help my team as much as I can. Help the team. Do everything I can.”

Elliott admitted that he feels he can change his “body” and that would help him become an effective member of the team: “We have players in the team who don’t believe. According to Darwin, Curtis (Jones) , people like that, they are constantly stuck, just running around.

“It’s something I can do but I have to get into the flow and make it work. Not just doing it for the sake of doing it.”
