On Monday, Nasser Hospital – the largest in the south of Gaza and one of the rare still partially operating in the strip – was hit twice by Israeli strikes.

At least 20 people have been killed, including journalists and medical staff.

The attack sparked international condemnation and the United Nations declared “that there must be justice”.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday called him “tragic mishap”.

On Tuesday, the Israeli army said that the strike had targeted a “camera positioned by Hamas”, without providing evidence, but added that an additional investigation was necessary on how strikes had been authorized.

BBC verifies the images analyzed of the attack and its consequences to reconstruct the chronology of events and what it reveals.
