“Incredible” arsenal dowman – and gyker “will be 100%”

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said Max Dowman, 15, “deserves to have chances” after the attacker midfielder again supported his claims to play in the Premier League with an impressive cameo against Villarreal.
The International Dowman of England under 17 has repeatedly had a rapid impact as a substitute during the pre-season, approaching several times and winning a second penalty in three games after replacing Bukayo Saka in the 63rd minute of 3-2 home defeat against the Spanish side.
“He continues to impress, without a doubt,” said Arteta. “The impact he had in the game again, the effectiveness he shows in each attack and action – is incredible.
“He deserves chances and if he continues like that, let’s see what’s going on.”

Max Dowman: The newcomer to the Premier League d’Arsenal?
Dowman shone in the 1-0 victory of Arsenal against Milan and tested the Newcastle guards Nick Pope and John Ruddy before being pushed by Jelinton to win the decisive kick of Martin Odegaard in the 86th minute against the Magpies.
He also marked a penalty in the shooting against Milan and showed feet too quickly for Pau Navarro de Villarreal, again winning a space kick which was converted by Odegaard.
“It is to the point where it will be impossible to leave him outside the match team,” said former Arsenal midfielder Adrian Clarke, to the official Arsenal channel after their first friendly match.
“He will have to be involved in the bench. He delivered – he won the penalty with a charming little tour of Cruyff. He is so positive and fast.”

Arteta: Dowman “Trust” of the team
Arteta said Dowman “would have a break” in “the next few days”. “He didn’t really have a vacation,” said the Spaniard, compare Dowman to the 18 -year -old revolutionary winger Ethan Nwaneri.
“The reaction (of the players) is very clear. They have the ball and they give it. This tells you how much they trust him and the relationship he builds within the team.
“There is nothing better than this confidence they show (in him) to make things happen and the constant connection they have with him.
“Even last year, when he trained with us, he did this kind of thing in training. Now he does it regularly in the game.
“During the three or four games he played, he managed to have an impact and have great moments.”
Dowman, who already has the age records for the youngest player in the Premier League 2 and the goals of the UEFA Youth League, will be the second most beginner of Arsenal in Nwaneri if he presents for the first team before mid-March.

Viktor Gyokerres: Arsenal Building Fitness
Arteta gave a first departure to Viktor Gyokerres, who Arsenal Hope will meet their need for a prolific attacker after joining Sporting in July for costs that could reach 64 million pounds sterling.
The 27-year-old had a quiet first half, but did well to test the goalkeeper of Villarreal, Luiz Junior, from a tight angle after being played by Mikel Merino shortly before the replacement of the Swedish international.
“It will be 100% or more because it is so arranged and confident that it can deliver positively,” predicted Arteta, discussing how Gyokerres adapts “mentally” and “understanding what to do”.
“At his level of fitness, I think he did not really train with (a) the team for two months, so he has now done five or six sessions.”
Arsenal Host Athletic Bilbao on Saturday (17:00 BST / 12:00 and / 09:00 HE), when Arteta said that Gyokerres “will do another step and will be in better condition”.
Gykerres did not obtain a “Arsenal service”
Clarke said he “felt a little” for Gyokerers because of the familiar problems of Arsenal with the creation of chances.
“He worked hard and supported hard but did not get the type of service we need,” said Clarke. “There was a time when (Gabriel) Martinelli needed to play it but was waiting for too long.
“These connections will improve. It was a beautiful shift pass from Merino and (Gyokerres) struck it with the angle quite beautifully.
“People will say that he did not contribute to his beginnings, but I saw the good signs he will do well. It is a shame that Gyokerers could not play with Odegaard (as a result of substitutions), because he is still looking for these smart passes.”
Arteta echoed Clarke’s thoughts. “Every day in training, I think he has a very good feeling,” he said.
“He gets links, which is really important with the players who will help him enter the positions he needs to enter.”
Arsenal vs Villarreal “painful” result
Arsenal has now lost twice in six days after their 1-0 defeat against Tottenham in Hong Kong last Thursday, with Villarreal marking the first goals through Nicolas Pepe and Karl Etta Eyong.
Christian Norgaard headed for his first Arsenal goal, but Arnaut Danjuma’s strike in the second half on the break meant that Odegaard’s penalty was not redemptive.
“The result is painful,” reduced Arteta, who was “very happy” with “a lot”. “(Villarreal) was super effective but we were naive – in particular the way in which we defended in open spaces.
“It is something that, especially with the way we play, we must absolutely nail. We were not at all good in this department and that cost us the game, that’s for sure.”
