Infowars is back on the market

The onion could finally get their hands on the Empire of the far -right media of Alex Jones.
On Wednesday, a Judge of the State of Texas ordered that the parent company of Infowars, the system of freedom of expression, is given to a receiver appointed by the court, which will supervise its sale. The product will be used to pay a massive debt of Jones to families of children killed during the shooting of the Sandy Hook 2012 primary school.
Families won a defamation case of $ 1.3 billion in 2022 against Jones, who spent years pedaling false complaints according to which the massacre was staged and that the mourning parents were crisis actors. His supporters harassed families for years.
Judge Maya Guerra Gamble gave the receptor a large authority over the assets of freedom of expression systems, including the power to modify the locks on their properties, access storage units and security deposit boxes, and take control of their websites.
“Today’s order brings us closer to the objective that Connecticut’s families have spent years fighting: Holding Alex Jones responsible for the years of damage,” said Chris Mattei, lawyer for Connecticut families, in a statement sent by e-mail to Gizmodo. “The receiver is now authorized to liquidate its commercial assets, and we look forward to the Empire of the corrupt media that Jones finally dismantled.”
Mark Bankston, a lawyer based in Texas, told NPR: “Families are relieved that the court has placed the parent company of Infowars in sequestration, a stage that will finally hold Alex Jones responsible for his monstrously cruel harassment.” »»
Infowars did not immediately respond to a request for comments from Gizmodo.
Last December, a judge of the Federal bankruptcy court in Texas blocked the proposed sale of infowars at the onion. He judged that the bankruptcy auction process was defective and that the supply of the satirical media society was too low.
The mother of the onion, Global Tetrahedron, had offered 1.75 million dollars in cash for the site, an offer supported by the families of the victims of Sandy Hook. The auctions against them were First United American Companies, a group affiliated with Jones which helps to manage their business supplements, which submitted an offer of $ 3.5 million.
The initial onion plan was to relaunch Infowars this year as a parody of itself.
“The objective of the onion with the acquisition is to put an end to the incessant flow of disinformation of infowars used to sell supplements and replace it with the own flow of incessant humor of the onion for good,” the company said in a press release before the sale is blocked.
With the last decision of the State Court, the chance of the onion to seize Infowars is back on the table. The company did not immediately respond to the request for comments from Gizmodo.
