There are fears for the safety of a million Palestinians in Gaza City

Airplanes and tanks have shone certain parts of Gaza City, while Israel’s plans to grasp the largest urban area in the territory increases the pressure on nearly a million Palestinians who live there.

Residents spoke of uninterrupted explosions in the northern and east parts of the city.

Israeli troops have also returned to explode buildings in the Jabalia refugee camp further north.

Sixty-four people were killed and nearly 300 injured in Israeli attacks in the last 24 hours, the territory ministry in Hamas said.

He said the overall number of people killed since Israel launched his mass campaign to defeat Hamas increased to 62,686 – with 157,951 others injured.

The Israeli army launched an operation in Gaza in response to the attack led by Hamas against southern Israel on October 7, 2023, during which around 1,200 people were killed and 251 others were taken hostage.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised to defeat Hamas and challenged international criticism of his plans to expand war.

Some 60,000 reservists are called to participate in the Israeli operation.

Although it has still started seriously, the Israeli attacks against Gaza City continued tirelessly – the Zeitoun and Shejayia areas struck the night for Sunday, while Tank Fire targeted the district of Sabra.

Israeli defense forces (FDI) have also said that the troops had returned to the Jabalia region in recent days.

“The activity of the troops allows the expansion of fighting in additional areas and prevents Hamas terrorists from returning and operating in these areas,” said the FDI.

In addition, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced on Sunday that a staff member had been released by the FDI after taking place in Gaza since July 21. There are no other details on the identity of the WHO worker or the reasons for his detention.

Netanyahu also faces intense pressure in Israel – in particular families of the hostages who want him to negotiate the end of the war in order to bring their captive parents home.

Only 20 of the 50 hostages still held in Gaza are alive.

The Israeli Prime Minister announced Israel’s intention to conquer the entire Gaza Strip after the indirect talks with Hamas on a cease-fire contract and hostage was broken last month.

The mediators of Qatar and Egypt try to conclude an agreement to avoid the offensive and presented a new proposal for a 60 -day truce and the release of about half of the 50 hostages, which Hamas said it had accepted.

But Israeli officials said they would no longer accept a partial affair and had demanded a complete one that would see all the hostages released.

The Israeli Defense Minister warned that the city of Gaza would be shaved if Hamas does not accept to disarm and release all hostages.

The Israeli army said it was planning to evacuate the entire population of Gaza City and move it to shelters in the south before the troops settled.

Most of the Gaza population has been moved several times.

The UN and non -governmental organizations have warned that an Israeli offensive in Gaza City will have a “horrible humanitarian impact”.

It is estimated that more than 90% of the houses are damaged or destroyed, and health, water, sanitation and hygiene systems collapsed.

Eighteen of the 36 Gaza hospitals are currently partially functional, according to the UN – 11 in Gaza City and its surroundings and one in a separate administrative district in North Gaza.

Friday, famine conditions were confirmed in Gaza City and its surroundings for the first time.
