Jeffery Bernard Morris, killer of the poker star Susie Zhao, refused the final call
Jeffery Bernard Morris, the man condemned for the horrible murder of the star and poker commentator Susie Zhao, had his last appeal rejected by the Supreme Court of Michigan.
The decision means that Morris reached the end of the road for legal appeal, following his conviction in October 2022 for premeditated murder in the first degree.
He was sentenced to perpetuity without parole after admitting to having stolen and murdered Zhao for a financial dispute.
Following the conviction, Morris filed a request after the conviction, citing a rapid case, with another case raised to the Michigan Court of Appeal.
The resident of the County of Oakland, Michigan, advanced the case according to which “his lawyer of the trial was ineffective not to oppose the identification of the testimonies, a testimony of opinion on the flight tactics and the problems of trial.”
He was also alleged that the “right to a quick trial of Morris had been raped”.
In the end, the Supreme Court of Michigan refuted the final appeal effort. They refused to raise the case “because we are not convinced that the questions presented should be examined by this court”.
Susie Zhao was a poker pioneer, despite her personal problems
Susie Zhao, 33, had returned to Michigan to reside with her family during the Pandemic of Covid-19, after years based in Los Angeles as regular on the poker circuit.
