Kalshi, the main North American prediction market, argues that the location of the placed bets does not contradict the law on Indian Games Regulation (IGRA).

The Paris supplier on the results was involved in audience battles with the Blue Lake Rancheria, Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians and Ranch Rancheria of the Me-Wuk Indians (California tribes) since July 2025.

Kalshi is in a heated debate with the Californian tribes

We reported that the tribes had been in an prolonged legal debate with Kalshi, and the Ho Chunk nation was vocal in its derision from the Paris operator.

By saying: “While pretending to be new basic and ultimate products, these event contracts are, substantially, nothing more than illegal and not regulated bets on the results of sporting events.”

Kalshi claims that the company’s partnership with co-accusation Robinhood Markets, Inc. and Robinhood Derivatives LLC (Robinhood) is not a violation of the IGRA and has invoked part of the illegal geography of the application of the Internet games (Uige) to support its position that geography is not a concern about its application.

Critics have seen the part of the UIEGA used as a fragile defense, but Kalshi is a specific branch of the law on the exchange of goods (CEA).

This means that the argument of Paris providers can exempt them, because bets, specifically called “bet or bet” via Kalshi, concern “any transaction carried out or subject to the rules of a registered entity or exempt trade council under the ACE”.

The legal flaw gives Kalshi a ribbon of hope

“Kalshi does not accommodate servers on Indian lands. Kalshi does not use personnel on Indian land. Kalshi does no company on Indian lands,” said the company based in New York.

This could mean that Kalshi is exempt as an exchange that is CEA; However, criticisms underline that these possible technical and legal gaps concerning society are obsolete and that bets can be placed on tribal land via the Robinhood application, which would constitute a violation of the IGRA.

Kalshi also argued that it would suffer irreparable financial damage following the injunction presented by the Californian tribes before the American district court in the California district.

The prediction supplier said he should stop adjusting the location of the bets placed to align the locations of the tribal land.

Whatever the result, the hearing on the possible injunction on October 23, 2025 should be a renowned matter and could lead to serious legal disputes concerning tribal relations and the future of the IGRA.
