Eddie Howe says that Alexander Isak still has a future in Newcastle – but Liverpool’s goal cannot currently train with the team and will miss his opening match of the Premier League against Aston Villa.

Isak recently returned to the Magpies training ground after missing the entire pre-season tour of the Magpies and trained far from the team, at the request of Howe.

Newcastle would have refused an offer of 110 million pounds sterling plus additional Liverpool modules for the Swedish international, which informed the club of its desire to explore the options far from St James’ Park.

The 25-year-old was not involved in the latest pre-season match in Newcastle, a 2-2 draw against Espanyol who saw the young William Osula starting forward and Howe thinks he is unlikely that the 25-year-old will be available for the trip to Villa Park in a week.

“I would like Alex to play today, I would like him to train tomorrow,” said TOON manager. “We would like the player to be with us – let me make it absolutely clear. There is no part of me who does not want this result.

“But I don’t see it changing before Aston Villa, the current situation in which we are.”

Howe: Isak has always Newcastle Future

Despite the admission that the situation is far from ideal at this current moment, Howe insists that he is still eager for Isak, who scored 27 goals all competitions last season, to remain a key element of the Newcastle team in the future.

“We have had discussions and it is clear at the moment, we cannot have it involved in the group,” said Howe.

“I don’t know how long it will be. It is clear that I cannot involve it with the team at the moment.

“He trains later than the rest of the team. There have been discussions since the tour. I do not think that disciplinary measures have occurred. ”

When he pushed an answer to find out if Isak has a future at the club, Howe added: “He is here, so of course, he has a future in Newcastle. From our point of view, we would be delighted to find him with the team, but the situation must be good for this to happen.

“He has no fitness problem. I am aware of a feeling within the team that there is something for the benefit of the group.”

Howe: Newcastle cannot refuse to sell Isak

Isak stayed under contract with Newcastle for another three years and asked if the club could dig their heels and refuse to sell the attacker, Howe said: “I don’t think it’s so simple, otherwise we would have done it a long time ago. I don’t think we are able to do so today.

“I don’t want to go too much details because I don’t think it’s true.” I think I said enough. “

The club’s failure to win numerous potential signatures, notably Benjamin Sesko, who should join Manchester United, has aroused suggestions that the public investment fund of Saudi Arabia, which has 85%stake, is not as committed as it was in the past.

However, Howe, who admitted that Isak’s situation disrupted a team before, was unequivocal in his denial.

He said: “The owners are very committed, as much as they have always been.

“It was a difficult period when there will be a lot of different opinions on different subjects, but I can assure that everyone logged in to Newcastle that the owners are very behind the project and fight every day for the club.”
