Charlie Kirk, an influencer on the 31 -year -old right and founder of the group of young conservatives Turning Point USA, was shot dead in the neck of UTAH, according to a report by Deseret News and Videos published on social networks.

President Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social that Kirk had died. Kirk spokesperson Andrew Kolvet confirmed his death at the New York Times. At a press conference on Wednesday evening, Utah Governor Spencer Cox said that a “person of interest” was in detention, but also declared “we will find you” on the shooter, giving contradictory statements to know if they have really apprehended the shooter.

Kirk was expressed at the University of Utah Valley in Orem, Utah, when only one blow was fired around 12:10 p.m. local time. A video published on X captured the shooting, which showed that Kirk’s head is back after what looks like a shot.

Filming videos spread largely

Videos from the shooting scene were published on X, although several were deleted for violating the conditions of use of the social media platform. Some of the most graphic videos, including a relatively close socket which shows a large amount of blood, are still in progress when writing these lines.

Kirk has established himself as a large -scale figure of the Maga movement by debating college students on political issues, which he did when he was shot. The appearance of Kirk in Utah was the first of what was to be an “American return tour” of 15 cities.

Kirk’s latest words

Another graphic video published on X captured the conversation Kirk had with someone on campus before being shot. Someone in the crowd interviewed the conservative influencer about trans people and mass shots. Kirk argued that mass shooters are transproportionate people.

“Do you know how many transgender Americans have been mass shooters in the past 10 years?” Someone in the crowd asked.

“Too much,” Kirk replied to the cheers of the crowd.

“The answer is five years. Now five is a lot. Let me give you credit. Do you know how many mass shooters have there have been in America in the past 10 years? ” The person asked.

“Count or not count the violence of the gangs?” Kirk responded before being shot.

The shooter is still large

Utah Valley University reported earlier that a shooter was in detention, and an unconcetic video claiming to show that the shooter had become viral on X. But the man who was arrested in the viral video was not the shooter, according to the New York Times.

The police said at a press conference on Wednesday evening that the man they had arrested from viral video remained in detention for obstruction of justice, but he was not the shooter.

A university spokesperson initially declared that the shooter was located at the Losee Center, a building about 200 meters, according to the New York Times. But it is not clear if it remains true.

Kash Patel tweeted at 6:21 p.m. HE that a “subject” was in detention but did not provide details. A journalist at the press conference with the Governor of Utah asked for the tweet to see if the Patel referred to the man in the viral video and the authorities said that Patel was referring to a new person.

But shortly before 8 p.m., and Patel tweeted that the person she had owned had been released.

Trump sends his condolences

“The big, and even legendary, Charlie Kirk, died. No one understood or had better young people in the United States of America than Charlie,” wrote Trump on Truth Social at 3:40 pm.

“He was loved and admired by all, especially me, and now he is no longer with us. Melania and my sympathies go to her beautiful wife Erika, and to the family. Charlie, we love you! ” Trump continued. The president ordered that all American flags be stolen from half of the staff until September 14, according to the New York Times.

Later Wednesday evening, Trump published a Truth Social video on murder.

“For years, people on the radical left have compared wonderful Americans like Charlie to the Nazis and the worst murderous and mass criminals in the world.

This type of rhetoric is directly responsible for terrorism that we see in our country today, and it must stop immediately. »»

“My administration will find each of those who have contributed to this atrocity and to other political violence, including organizations that finance and support it, as well as those who pursue our judges, law enforcement and all those who bring our country.”

When the news of the shooting broke out, the director of the FBI, Kash Patel, wrote on X that the agents went to the scene of the shooting.

“We closely monitor the reports of the tragic shooting involving Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University,” wrote Patel. “Our thoughts are with Charlie, his relatives and all the people affected. The agents will be quickly on the stage and the FBI fully supports the response and the current investigation. ”

Advocacy on firearms

Kirk has a long history of support for firearms, especially in 2023 when he argued that anyone aspiring at zero firearms in America pleaded for a “utopian society” which could never be carried out.

“It is worth having a cost, unfortunately, of deaths by guns each year so that we can have the second amendment,” said Kirk at the time.

High -level figures respond

The billionaire Elon Musk, the owner of X, responded to the videos traveling on social networks, writing: “The blow looked really bad, but I hope that Charlie will do it in one way or another. The CEO of Tesla also wrote: “The left is the party of the murder”.

The other conservative commentators of X also responded with a wave of support for Kirk. “Everyone please stop what you do and pray for Charlie Kirk. Please,” wrote Candace Owens on the social media platform.

The white supremacist Nick Fuentes, who once had someone presented himself in his own house with a firearm, wrote on X that “looks like a nightmare”, describing it as “one of the most horrible things” that he has ever seen.

“I feel absolutely emptied and devastated. Pray for the soul of Charlie Kirk, his young family and for our country. Violence and hatred must stop. Our country more than ever needs Christ, ”wrote Fuentes.

California Governor Gavin Newsom, a democrat and supporter of the stricter law on firearms, posted X that the Americans had to reject political violence. “”Charlie Kirk’s attack is disgusting, vile and reprehensible. In the United States of America, we must reject political violence in each form“Wrote Newsom.

Vice-president JD Vance showed Kirk support in several tweets before confirmation of his death, writing, “Say a prayer for Charlie Kirk, a really good guy and a young father. Vance also shared a photo of the two men, with President Donald Trump’s son Don Jr.

Still unknown reason

Kirk’s latest article on X before the shooting said it was “100% necessary to politicize the insane murder of Iyna Zarutska”, a 23 -year -old woman who was recently killed on a light train on Charlotte, North Carolina.

Jason Chaffetz, a former member of the Republican Congress of Utah, suggested without proof of Fox News that the shooter could be trans. It has become a common statement on the right that most mass shooters are trans, which is not true.

Jason Chaffetz of Fox News: “I do not think that it is a coincidence that the shot has sounded when you have a question on transgender mass shots. I hope that I am wrong. I will probably be criticized for having taken conclusions … I do not think that it is a coincidence but we will see.”
