Man found guilty of having tried to murder Trump on his Florida golf course

A man accused of having tried to assassinate US President Donald Trump last year in his Florida golf course was found guilty on Tuesday.
The jury of five men and seven women declared Ryan Routh guilty for all the counts he was facing after two hours of deliberation.
While the jurors were getting out of the courtroom, Routh caught a pen and tried to stab in the neck. The marshals invaded him, picked it up and dragged her out of the courthouse.
A few minutes later, Routh was brought back inside. He no longer wore a jacket and a tie and was chained. There was no sign of blood on his shirt.
The judge said Roth would be sentenced on December 18. He risks for life.
Defends himself in court
Routh had been charged with having tried to assassinate a large presidential candidate, to have a firearm in favor of a crime of violence, the assault of a federal officer, possession of a firearm and ammunition as a condemned criminal and having a firearm with an erased serial number. He had pleaded not guilty of the accusations and defended himself in court.
Prosecutors said Roth had spent weeks plotting to kill Trump before targeting a rifle through shrubs while the Republican played golf on September 15, 2024, in his Country Club of West Palm Beach, Florida.
Routh told jurors in his closing argument that he did not intend to kill anyone that day.
“It is difficult for me to believe that a crime has occurred if the relaxation has never been drawn,” said Routh. He stressed that he could see Trump because he was on the way to the greenery of the sixth holes in the golf course and said that he could also have shot a secret service agent who had confronted him if he intended to harm someone.
Routh did not testify
Roth, 59, exercised his constitutional right not to testify for his own defense. He laid his case on Monday morning after questioning only three witnesses – an expert in firearms and two characters of characters – for a total of about three hours.
On the other hand, the prosecutors spent seven days questioning 38 witnesses.
The Attorney General Pam Bondi declared in an article on X that the verdict of guilt “illustrates the commitment of the Ministry of Justice to punish those who engage in political violence”.
“This assassination attempt was not only an attack on our president, but an affront to our nation itself,” said Bondi.
Ryan Routh, the man arrested after what the police said was an apparent assassination attempt against Donald Trump, has a long criminal record and a member of the Ukrainian Legion said that he had tried to fit into efforts to recruit troops for Ukraine.
The American district judge Aileen Cannon signed the request of Routh to stand out following two hearings in July. The United States Supreme Court judged that the criminal accused had the right to represent themselves in legal proceedings, as long as they can show a judge that they are competent to renounce their right to be defended by a lawyer.
The former Defense lawyers of Routh have been a lawyer in Standby since he resumed his own defense and was present during the trial in the last two weeks.
2nd attempt against Trump
Recounting what happened on the golf course, a secret service agent said earlier in the trial he spotted Roth before Trump was seen. Roth targeted his rifle on the agent, who opened fire, dropping his weapon and fleeing without shooting, said the agent.
The police obtained the help of a witness who testified that he had seen a person fleeing the area after hearing shots. The witness was then transported by plane to a police helicopter in a neighboring interstate where Routh was arrested, and the witness said he had confirmed that it was the person he had seen.
In addition to the federal accusations, Routh also pleaded not guilty for accusations of state of terrorism and attempted murder.
Barely nine weeks earlier, Trump had survived an attempted life during the campaign in Butler, Penn. This shooter had fired eight shots, with a bullet grazing Trump’s ear. The shooter was then fatally shot down by an elite counter-knit of the secret services.
