French police question a man suspected of murder after four bodies were found in the Seine near Paris.

The first victim was spotted by a passer-by near a bridge in Choisy-le-Roi, a southeast suburb of the capital, on August 13. Later in the day, the police excavated in the region discovered three other nearby bodies.

The prosecutors say that one of the victims was strangled and another showed violent injuries.

The suspect is held in Paris. Police did not give any details about him or how many murders he is questioned.

The first body was only in the water for a short time and was identified as a 40 -year -old local man, prosecutors said.

The other three were found in “a very advanced state of decomposition”, they added.

Prosecutors have stressed that there has so far been no evidence of a link between the victims. They could have been overwhelmed in separate places upstream and taken by the current at the foot of the Choisy bridge.
