Michigan stops four online casinos without license targeting state residents
Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has sent letters to stop and abstain from four online casinos which, according to officials, were not authorized. The sites are Betty Wins, Orbit Spins, Pacific Spins Casino and Yabby Casino, all operated by Tech Zone, Inc., which is recorded in Offshore in the Union of Comoros. It is said that it is part of a wider effort of Michigan Board to suppress online casinos without license.
This includes the issuance of 100 letters to cease-discount to unauthorized game operators in June.
Michigan says that online casinos without license “put consumers at serious risks”
“These offshore operators attract players with flashy advertisements and promises of big gains, but in reality, they put consumers to serious financial and personal risks,” said Henry Williams, executive director of MGCB. “We will continue to take strong measures against sites without license to ensure that the game in Michigan is legal, fair and secure.”
Michigan Law only authorizes operators authorized by the MGCB to offer online games and sports betting. The agency claims that the four tech zone brands illegally aimed at Michigan players and violate several laws of states, including the legal internet game law, Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act, and certain parts of the Michigan Penal Code.
The Board of Directors has explained that the game -free game sites often ignore independent tests to ensure that games are fair, do not give players a way to resolve disputes and can leave people vulnerable to fraud, identity theft or loss of money. Each of the operators was invited to stop offering games in Michigan, and the board of directors said that more implementing measures could be accompanied by the Office of the Attorney General of the State.
The MGCB also continues its “Play It Smart, Michigan” campaign, which helps people understand the difference between legal and illegal game options. Approved operators are listed on the website of the Board of Directors, and a page “Legal vs Gaming illegal” offers advice to identify unregulated sites.
“Illegal operators can use a familiar brand or advertisements on social networks to seem trustworthy,” said Williams. “But if the site is not authorized by the MGCB, it is not certain. We encourage all the players to check before betting.”
