The expectation of Angel Postoccoou for a first victory while the boss of Nottingham Forest continues after his team was beaten in Newcastle this afternoon.

Bruno Guimaraes scored the 12-minute opener in the second half and Nick Woltemade made sure of the victory with a late penalty while Newcastle followed his victory in Midweek Champions League against Union SG with another victory.

Forest fought hard and certainly seemed more defensive than during the 3-2 defeat at home against Midtjylland on Thursday evening, but this performance will not do much to persuade skeptical forest fans that the owner Evangelos Marinakis was right to dismiss Nuno Espírito Santo and replace it by after-theater.

The Australian has won none of his seven games in charge with Forest now to a point above the last three.

A first half to forget

The first half was unhappy with little invention or chances of clear cut.

Each side had a decent opportunity: Jelinton saw a distant head distant by Matz Salts while Chris Wood should have done better than leaving the ball of his knee after being found in space by the low cross of Morgan Gibbs-White.

Newcastle began to work the procedure after the break.

They should have gone ahead after 51 minutes. Morato has done a cleaning waste of the Antony Gordon cross, placing it on a plate for Woltemade only six meters so that the defender gets up and blocks the shot of the German.

Forest dissatisfied with the objective of the Guimaraes

The goal came six minutes later. A forest break was stored in a robust manner by guimaraes who went strongly on Gibbs-White. Forest wanted a free kick but referee Peter Bankes kicked the game. Dan Burn launched the balloon on the edge of the area and he wrapped a blow in front of salts and in the net.

Postcoglou has made a triple change in order to find an itinerary in the competition, bringing Callum Hudson-Odoi, Igor Jesus and Omari Hutchinson. It made little difference, however, and Woltemade missed another opportunity to mark shortly after, pulling in a way against the bar at a bland range.

Salts made superb stops to deny Malick Thiaw and the replacement Harvey Barnes before a horrible game by Elliot Anderson offered Newcastle the possibility of double their lead.

The former Newcastle midfielder rejected the ball inside his own area, then rushed into Guimaraes to concede an unnecessary penalty. Woltemade was not mistaken, pulling high in the upper left corner.

Forest has never really threatened back, letting Postcoglou fight for its future while the Premier League is heading for an international break.

When the interior action returns, the forest welcomes Chelsea on October 18 before matches against Porto, Bournemouth and Manchester United.
