Operators of illegal slot machines in Port Richey, Florida, had a bad day. Joining the Florida Gaming Control Commission (FGCC), the Port Richey and New Port Richey police have succeeded in obtaining 249 illegal machines. At the same time, he also seized $ 194,262 “in alleged play product”. No arrests were made, but eight operators were invited to appear in court for “offenses related to the game”.

Speaking in the press release, Carl Herold, director of the application of games for the Florida Gaming Control Commission, said:

“Illegal casinos are not part of the regulated games in Florida. These operations exploit vulnerable individuals, create an unequal playing field for legitimate companies and bring crimes and unwanted disorders to the communities in which they operate. ”

Five locations are detailed in the press release, including two under Oz place. Collectively, the bust recovered 59 machines from the two locations, with an additional $ 2,394 seized during the operation.

Three arcades were also affected: Fl Skill Arcade, Ridge Road Place Arcade and 777 Arcade. These three locations are the place where most of the crises took place, with 190 machines confiscated during the raids. There were also $ 41,230, $ 35.46.7 and $ 86,171 withdrawn from companies, respectively, 777 arcade losing the most. Overall, $ 162,868 were drawn from these last locations.

Florida’s law stipulates that unless authorizations, companies cannot exploit slot machines. Despite this, illegal casinos are always a problem for the state. In June, another bust occurred, with Wesh 2 News, reported that Mike Chitwood, Sheriff of the County of Volusia, said that the law was “steeped”. Most cases end up being, as for the above crimes, and not openly detrimental to business.

In July, a suspended sheriff of the County of Osceola was deemed linked to illegal casinos. More recently, the Miccosukee tribe had trouble avoiding illegal game advertisements that claim to be linked to the tribe.
