Turki Al-Sheikh revealed tonight on X his plans for a mini-tournament involving Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis fighting Teofimo Lopez on the Ryan Garcia vs. Devin Haney 2 in October in Riyadh. The winners of the two fights will meet in February, and the losers will face each other on the same card.

Turki says he still needs to talk to Matchroom, Golden Boy Promotions, and PBC to inform them of his plans to use their fighters.

It is difficult for Teofimo Lopez (21-1, 13 KOs) to move up to 147 pounds to take on what many fans believe is the King of the welterweight division, IBF champion Jaron Ennis.

Yes, Teofimo wants to fight Ennis because it gives him a big payday and a chance to prove himself against a top fighter. As long as Teo competes in knockout attempts, his stock will rise because he’s currently swinging at 140, struggling in the deadweight class, and fighting no-name opponents.

When you look at the matchups, it’s a good time for IBF welterweight champion Boots Ennis as he has a great chance to be the last man standing. He would be the favorite to defeat Teofimo in October and defeat the winner of Garcia vs. Haney 2. Ennis would be lucky to have 147 against any batsman in the Turkish minor league.

Ryan is fighting Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz in May, and Haney is fighting Jose Ramirez on the same card in New York’s Times Square. None of these fights are gimmes for Ryan and Haney, but it seems like it doesn’t matter if they lose. Turki isn’t saying anything about Cruz or Ramirez having a chance to fight on his October card, but you have to believe he’ll use them at some point in his career.
