The man accused of having assassinated a winner of Parx Casino in New Jersey was authorized to accusations of murder following a trial of three weeks.

A jury of the County Middlesex released Jekai Reid-John, 31, of all the accusations, but conspiracy to commit an armed robbery, in a trial of three weeks which ended on September 26. Reid-John was accused of having murdered a winner of Parx Casino, after pretending to follow the victim early in the morning of October 26, 2021.

The jury found that prosecutors could not prove in a conclusive manner that he had done so, the accusation based on casino images, toll files and circumstantial evidence. The defense stressed that there was no firearm match at Reid-John’s weapon and no direct legal proof.

The murder of Parx Casino

The victim, Sree Aravapalli, was found suffering from ball injury in his house in Plainsboro in New Jersey around 3:30 am. He was taken to the hospital and declared dead at 5:24. Before the shooting, Aravapalli had won about $ 10,000 at Parx Casino, the prosecutors alleging that Reid-John and another suspect, Devon Melchor, targeted him accordingly.

Surveillance images have shown that two men looked at AravaPalli throughout the night, with a transaction by debit card connecting one of the men to Reid-John. The toll data has shown that a white BMW later connected to Reid-John followed the same route as the Aravapalli car. A search in Reid-John’s house revealed a 9 mm handgun charged that the defense would later affirm did not correspond to the envelopes found on the crime scene. No medico-legal evidence, such as fingerprints or DNA, has been found on the scene.

Melchor pleaded guilty to an armed robbery in the first degree and a second degree conspiracy chief to commit an armed robbery and awaits a conviction. Reid-John was accused of murder, armed robbery, conspiracy to commit an armed robbery, burglary, several infractions of arms and witnesses.

The trial which concluded in September was its second trial, after the end of a procedure of May 2025 by a suspended jury. The accusation of conspiracy still attached to Reid-John will be sent to the court on October 10.

Violence linked to the game is not a new phenomenon, with similar cases which take place in the Hollywood hills and the Nevada.
