Poland rushes into jets while Russia strikes western Ukraine

Russia beat Ukraine with missile and drone attacks during the night on Saturday and Sunday morning, focusing on the main western city of Lviv.
The Ukrainian neighbor from Poland has scrambled the fighter planes to ensure the security of Polish airspace, confirmed the Polish army. NATO allied planes have also been deployed.
LVIV regional chief, Maksym Kozytskyi, said two people had been killed in strikes in the region and two other injured.
Elsewhere, Russia again targeted Ukraine power plants – and one was struck during a night attack against Zaporizhzhia, where the mayor said that more than 73,000 people were without electricity.
Russian assaults occurred a few days after an American official said that the United States would support Ukraine by launching deep strikes inside Russian territory.
“Polish and allies aircraft operate in our airspace, while air defense and radar systems on the ground have been brought to the highest preparation state of preparation,” said Poland’s operational command in an article on X.

Russia has intensified its attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
The mayor of LVIV, Andriy Sadovyi, said that part of the city – 70 km (43 miles) from the border with Poland – had no power, adding that the city’s air defense systems were strongly engaged in the repair of a drone, then a Russian missile attack.
At 7:30 am (04:30 GMT), some parts of the city were left without electricity and public transport had not yet started running, with Sadovyi stressing on the telegram that it was “dangerous to go out on the streets”.
In Zaporizhzhia, Russia’s night attack left “more than 73,000 consumers … without electricity”, according to Ivan Fedorov, the regional governor.
One person was killed and nine injured, said Fedorov.
A 16-year-old girl was one of those who received medical aid, he added, displaying photos apparently showing a partially destroyed several several floors and a burned car on the attack site.

Public transport in Ivano-Frankivsk, another Western City, “would start to run later than usual” Sunday, said its mayor.
The multiple strikes were part of the threats of Russia against all of Ukraine overnight.
Around 6:00 am (3:00 am GMT), Ukraine’s Air Force said that the whole country was threatened with new Russian missile attacks, after hours of air raid and drone warnings and missile attacks.

Last week, Ukraine Special Envoy for Ukraine Kellogg said on Fox News that the United States would support Ukraine launching deep strikes in the Russian territories.
“The answer is yes, use the ability to hit deeply, there are no sanctuaries,” Kellogg said when asked if it was President Donald Trump’s position that Ukraine could make long -range strikes.

Meanwhile, another NATO member – Lithuania – had to briefly close his airspace after objects were identified, following recent incidents in Denmark, Norway and Germany.
Lithuania has suspended the flights at its largest and most frequented Vilnius airport for several hours, before reopening at 04:50 (01:50 GMT) on Sunday.
The airport operator said that suspensions and the hijackings were “due to a possible series of balloons heading for Vilnius airport”.
