President Obama accuses the Trump administration of “government coercion” after ABC left Jimmy Kimmel

Former American president Barack Obama placed himself in the Trump administration Thursday following ABC’s decision to suspend “indefinitely” the end-of-evening talk show Jimmy Kimmel.
The former 64 -year -old head of state said Kimmel’s suspension on his comments on the political commentator killed Charlie Kirk was equivalent to “government coercion”, accusing the Trump administration of playing quickly and cowards with the first amendment, which protects the right to freedom of expression in America.
“After years complaining about the cancellation of culture, the current administration has brought it to a new and dangerous level by systematically threatening regulatory measures against media companies unless they muzzle or journalists and commentators do not like,” wrote Obama in an article on X.
Obama’s reference to regulatory measures probably refer to the comments formulated by the president of the Federal Communications Commission, Brendan Carr, who declared earlier this week that his agency, which issues licenses to disseminate public airwaves, would examine the “remedies” to combat Kimmel’s comments if companies did not take action.
“These companies can find ways to change their driving and act, frankly, on Kimmel, or there will be additional work for the FCC to come,” said Carr on a podcast on the right -of -right media Benny Johnson on Wednesday.
Dozens of channels of local ABC stations belonging to the owner of the Sentlair station will broadcast an honest Kirk memory in the time slot formerly occupied by Jimmy Kimmel Live!. Sinclair called the late evening host to apologize and give a donation to the right organization Kirk founded, Turning Point USA.
In his X Post, Obama added that “media companies should start standing rather than capitulating” Trump administration.
The White House and ABC did not immediately respond to FortuneComment requests.
Obama, who has kept a relatively low profile since his departure, spoke more recently about Trump’s political and actions since the former real estate magnate took over the office in January. During an event organized Tuesday by Jefferson Education Society in Pennsylvania, Obama also criticized the deployment by the Trump Administration of the National Guard to Washington DC and the rejection by President Donald Trump of presidential standards, according to the Times.
Other Democrats, including the chief of minorities of the Hakeem Jeffries room (DN.Y.), also spoke of the suspension of Kimmel. On Thursday, he and a group of Democratic leaders of the Congress published a joint declaration condemning the president of FCC Carr for his alleged “corrupt abuse of power”.
President Trump, on the other hand, congratulated ABC’s actions and wrongly said that Kimmel’s program had been canceled in a social position on Truth on Wednesday. Trump added that there were only two end -of -evening hosts left in his opinion, both operating on NBC: Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers.
“Their notes are also horrible. Do it NBC !!!” Trump wrote in the post.
