Qatar hosts an Arab-Islamic Emergency Summit on an Israeli strike on Doha

An emergency meeting of the Arab and Islamic states takes place in Qatar in response to Israel’s air strike against Hamas leaders in Doha last week.

A draft resolution observed by the reuters news agency condemns what he calls “hostile acts of Israel, including genocide, ethnic cleaning, (and) famine”, which says that it threatens “the prospects of peace and coexistence”. Israel strongly denied such allegations.

It is not clear what practical decisions could be made, because analysts say that any kind of military answer is out of the question.

Earlier, Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Bin Jassim Al-Thani urged the international community to stop applying “double standards” and punish Israel.

On Sunday, American president Donald Trump said that “Qatar was a very great ally. Israel and everyone, we have to be careful. When we attack people, we have to be careful”.

Leaving for Israel on Saturday, the American secretary of state, Marco Rubio, said that Trump “had not liked the path (the attack on Qatar) fell.”

During his visit, Rubio will meet Israeli leaders to discuss the war in the Gaza Strip and other key problems affecting the Middle East.

The Israeli strike on the capital of Qatar was sentenced last week by the United Nations Security Council.

“The members of the Council stressed the importance of de -escalation and expressed their solidarity with Qatar,” the council of 15 members said in a statement.

Israel defended his action, President Isaac Herzog saying that the strike was necessary to “withdraw certain people if they are not willing to obtain an agreement” to end the war.

Hamas said its negotiation team had survived the Israeli strike on September 9 – but five of its members were killed, including the son of the Khalil Al -Hayya group. An Qatari security guard was also killed.

Qatar has played a key role in broketing diplomatic efforts to end the war, serving as a mediator for indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israel.

He has hosted the Hamas political bureau since 2012 and is a close American ally, organizing a large American air base in the desert near Doha.
