Recognition of the Palestinian state is “disastrous”, says the American ambassador

Mike Huckabee, the United States ambassador to Israel, said BBC Kuensberg who planned to recognize that a Palestinian state had “disastrous consequences”.
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said the United Kingdom will recognize a Palestinian state in September, unless Israel meets certain conditions, including accepting a cease-fire in Gaza and rejecting the prospect of a two-state solution.
Australia, France, Japan and Canada have all made similar announcements to support the recognition of a Palestinian state.
The Israeli government says that recognition “rewards the monstrous terrorism of Hamas”, that there is “no partner (Palestinian) for peace”.
The state of Palestine is currently recognized by 147 of the 193 UN member states.
France, Canada and the United Kingdom would be the first states of the G7 to do so.
